Guest Post – Favourite Scenes in the Pig Diary Series by Emer Stamp

Seriously Extra Ordinary Diary of Pig

When the lovely Faye Rogers asked me if I would like to be part of this fab blog tour I jumped at the chance.  My son, Corey, and I LOVE Pig!  We have followed him on two fun filled adventures so far and now it was time for the third instalment!

We knew Pig adventures were going to make us laugh lots….and we did!

You can find Corey’s review of Pig’s third adventure, The Seriously Ordinary Diary Of Pig here

For my stop on the blog tour the lovely author Emer Stamp is sharing her Five Favourite Scenes in the Pig Diary Series (no major spoilers) and we have to agree they are fab!

A huge thank you to Faye Rogers , Scholastic and author Emer Stamp for having me on this wonderful tour!

We love Pig , but Pig loves Farmer. After all, Farmer gives Pig yummy slops and special back scratches, and calls him Sausage and seems to love him more, the fatter he gets. Just as well Pig doesn’t speak any Farmer. But Duck does (Duck’s clever like that), and he’s determined his best friend should know the truth.

The hilarious sequel to THE UNBELIEVABLE TOP SECRET DIARY OF PIG. Pig couldn’t be happier. Life with the vegetarian farmers is perfect, and he has a new friend, Kitty. Of course, Pig won’t believe she’s up to something until he’s eaten the entirety of the farmers’ prize crop and is half way to the pie factory.

Five Favourite Scenes in the Pig Diary Series

Pig disguising himself as a heap of Poo and struggling across the yard. I had to give serious and proper thought to what it would be like to be covered in poo and the challenges it would present. I think I got it pretty right – though I am not about to try it for real to find out.

The arrival of the Phantom Bantams. I loved the idea that Phantom Bantams would look like chickens and, as such, scare Pig. But that they would, in fact, be the complete opposite; very nice. I googled different breeds and discovered Dutch Bantams – they seemed perfect as they gave me the opportunity to write dialogue in a funny Dutch accent – which gave me endless pleasure.

Anything with Kitty in. Kitty is a complex character. She is so good and so bad all at once. It was fun thinking of things for her to say.

Cow’s unexpectedly gigantic fart. It’s always fun getting your characters to do something unexpected. Cow is such a lady; not even I saw her huge fart coming.

Pig meeting The Captain and the Sea Gulls. The Seriously Extra Ordinary Diary of Pig is the first of Pig’s diaries that has animals you wouldn’t find on a farm. The Captain, a posh seal, is based on my old landlord – he was very well spoken and loved using long words. The gulls are based on my builder, Danny, and his crew. They are all proper Essex boys who all have silly nicknames for each other. It was great fun introducing Pig to them.
